Frequently Asked Questions
Whether or not you need a referral is a question we often get asked. The answer to this as well as other frequently asked questions can be found here.
If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please give the clinic a call directly and one of our friendly receptionists will be able to assist you.
Do I need a referral?
Whilst you do not require a referral to receive podiatry services, we do accept the following referrals:
- Enhanced Primary Care (EPC)
- Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA)
- WorkCover & TAC
- Any other Podiatry referral from your GP, Allied Health Professional or Specialist
To claim under the EPC program, DVA, WorkCover or TAC, you must have a current and valid referral.
What do I need to bring for my first appointment?
If you have any of the above referrals (EPC, DVA, WC or TAC) you must bring in your referral. We also recommend you bring in any other paperwork your doctor or another allied health professional has given to you. If you have had any imaging (X-rays, ultrasound, MRI, CT scans, etc) relating to your condition or previous injuries, please bring in your scans and corresponding report.
It is also a good idea to bring in a couple of pairs of shoes that you wear regularly so we can assess these – eg. work footwear, school shoes or sports footwear (training and competition).
Are my appointments covered by my Private Health Insurance?
If you have Podiatry listed as one of your extras then some of your appointment fees may be covered by your Private Health Insurer. Some products are also covered under Private Health but not all of them and this is largely dependent on your private health insurer. If you need to get a quote prior to your appointment, please contact our clinic by phone and we can arrange that for you. We also provide quotes for certain treatments including nail surgery for ingrown toenails, Swift Therapy for warts, semi-custom and fully custom-made orthotics. These are provided after full assessment and advice regarding the most suitable treatment plan for your specific condition.
Can I claim my Private Health Insurance on the spot?
Yes. We have HICAPS and can process your Private Health Insurance claim on the spot and then you only have to pay the GAP fee.
Are the appointments under my EPC free?
Unfortunately not but you do get a rebate. This means you are required to pay upfront at the time of consultation. We can then submit a claim to Medicare on your behalf for a portion of the consultation fee. Medicare will reimburse in to your Medicare registered bank account the following business day. The Medicare rebate amount is currently $56.00. Your final out-of-pocket cost will depend on the type of appointment you have attended for and your concession status. Please discuss this with reception if you have any further enquiries.
